Yoshihiro Suda – Drawing
July 5 – August 10, 2025
Opening: July 5, 2025 | 3 – 7 PM
We are pleased to announce the exhibitions of Japanese artist Yoshihiro Suda at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich and the Loock Galerie in Berlin. These exhibitions mark 30 years of collaboration between Yoshihiro Suda and Friedrich Loock.
Suda became known for his masterfully carved wooden sculptures of flowers, twigs and grasses, placed with precision in unexpected locations. The artist does not, however, see himself primarily as a sculptor: he sees himself in the context of a conceptual approach to the spaces in which his objects are installed and which he makes possible to experience anew through his interventions.
For his exhibition in the Loock Galerie, Suda is presenting drawings that are in dialogue with his sculptures in the Pinakothek.
Yoshihiro Suda (*1969) lives and works in Tokyo. His works have been shown at the Art Institute Chicago, Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, Sprengel Museum Hannover, Städel Museum Frankfurt, Lenbachhaus Munich, Fondation Beyeler Basel, Louisiana Museum Copenhagen and Palais de Tokyo Paris, among others. His permanent installation Gokaisho can be seen at Naoshima Japan.
